I do have an opinion on ancestors.

I promised that I would make up for the hiccups we had last week, I hope this mid-week out of ordinary entry will go a long way towards doing so!

Firstly I want to give you an idea of our polling results this far: (Many thanks to all those who took their time to complete the poll questions). We are going to keep the question for at least just one more week now. Please register your preferences. It only takes a few seconds:

What would you do if you were guaranteed you won't fail?

Start my own business "\"\\"40\"""\"\\"40\"""\"\\"40\"" 40.00% (4)
Register for a degree or diploma "\"\\"30\"""\"\\"30\"""\"\\"30\"" 30.00% (3)
Write a book "\"\\"10\"""\"\\"10\"""\"\\"10\"" 10.00% (1)
Venture full time into a sport or music career "\"\\"10\"""\"\\"10\"""\"\\"10\"" 10.00% (1)
Start a humanitarian or charity based organization "\"\\"10\"""\"\\"10\"""\"\\"10\"" 10.00% (1)
Start own political party "\"\\"0\"""\"\\"0\"""\"\\"0\"" 0.00% (0)
Other "\"\\"0\"""\"\\"0\"""\"\\"0\"" 0.00% (0)

Total votes cast = 10

Strangely, many people would like to start and run their own businessess. The reality though points to the opposite: The majority of people work for other people! Really interesting (and I would really like to explore this further in future).

What really stop people from doing - what appears to be a major dream. Is it the absence of guarantee that they would never fail. Hmmmmmm...

Secondly, I want to share with the rest of our readers  an interesting interaction I have just had with one of our website guests:

Here is the question I have been asked (herein quoted verbatum)

Wat ur take on ancestors, eg when sumthings in ur life i nt going right or when things are going right you have 2 slaught a sheep or cow.do u think their play a part in our lyfs. I wud lyk 2 know wat i ur views on these issue

And Here is my answer (and I expect this discussion to really swell once our Forum become Live). You are nonetheless, welcome to share your comments on the section below if you feel very strongly about this subject):

Yes, I do have an opinion on ancestors.

My take is that ancestors are spirits (some people would rather they were bad spirits and others think they are good spirits), they are still spirits, nonetheless.

Now like in the case of any spiritual domain (in this case I include even God Himself ) we decide how we want to perceive Them. To me, whether you decide to slaughter a cow, or burn some herbs,  shout from a mountain, read from a Holy book or even perform some ritual dance – is all immaterial, what matters is that you have found a method that you are comfortable with to connect with your particularly chosen spirit.

Did I sound philosophical?

What I am saying is that we all have our choices how we connect with the spiritual world. Others choose Ancestors, others choose Buddha, others choose Shembe, Mohammed, Allah etc - even others choose Jesus Christ.

Do they (ancestors) - or spirits in general - have any place in our lives. Definitely. How much? It all depends on the intensity of our belief (or FAITH). The stronger our Faith in whatever spirit we choose to believe in, the more impact that particular spirit will have in our lives.

My view is that there is absolutely no difference between my grandfather who slaughters a cow for his ancestors - and Abraham who offered his son as a sacrifice to God – or even the Born-again (SAVED Christians) deciding to subject themselves to exhaustive fasting – praying for whatever they asked from God.

I appreciate your quest for knowledge and I pray that the Almighty Spirit will reveal these truths to you in a way that is easily understandable to you.

We are all just one in Spirit!

Regards

Ernest
